Le but premier du système de parrainage est de doter les étudiants étrangers de personnes ressources qui peuvent répondre à leurs questions et les aider à s’intégrer à la vie à l’Université Laval.

The goal of the buddy system is to give international students a reference point in Quebec City. Your buddies will become resourceful persons who will be able to answer your questions and facilitate your inclusion to life at Laval University.​

Depuis l’automne 2012, le système de parrainage se fait par équipe. Une équipe de 5 ou 6 parrains/marraines s’occupe d’un groupe de dix à quinze étudiants étrangers. Ceux-ci sont contactés par courriel lorsque les équipes et le jumelage est fait. 
 

Starting at the fall of 2012, the buddy system is team based. A team of 5 or 6 Laval students will buddy-up with 10 to 15 international students. International students will be contacted by email when the teams and pairing have been done.
 

 

 

Les parrains/marraines sont premièrement là pour répondre aux questions des étudiants étrangers avant même qu’ils arrivent à Québec. Aucune question n’est hors limite et si les parrains/marraines ne peuvent répondre, ils redirigent la question à la bonne personne.
 

The Laval buddies are firstly there to answer all questions even before international students arrive in Quebec City. No questions are off limits and if the Laval buddies cannot answer they will help the student find someone who will be able to answer.

Les parrains/marraines peuvent aussi accueillir et venir chercher les étudiants à l’aéroport ou à la station d’autobus de Québec. Pour ce faire, ces derniers doivent transmettre leur itinéraire de voyage.
 

Laval buddies can welcome and pick up the students at the Quebec City bus station or airport. For this students only have to communicate their travel details.

Durant la session, les parrains/marraines peuvent participer aux activités du CAI avec les étudiants internationaux et organiseront des activités en équipe.
 

During the semester Laval buddies can participate in the CAI activities and will organise other team activities.

Les parrains/marraines sont toujours là pour répondre aux questions même lorsque la session est entamée. Ils peuvent aider à trouver l’épicerie la plus près et l’endroit où se procurer diverses nécessités. Ils connaissent la ville de Québec et peuvent suggérer des magasins, restaurants, bars, activités sportives, etc.
 

Laval buddies are always there to answer questions even when the semester is well underway. They can help find the nearest grocery store or indicate where to buy kitchen ware or blankets. They know Quebec City; therefore they can recommend shops, restaurants, bars, sporting activities, etc.​

Une semaine avant que la session commence, le CAI organise une semaine d’intégration pour les étudiants étrangers (pour la session d’automne 2012, celle-ci ce déroule du 27 au 31 août). Ils peuvent y rencontrer tous leurs parrains et marraines, connaitre d’autres étudiants étrangers, se faire des amis et connaitre l’Université Laval et la magnifique ville de Québec.
 

One week before the beginning of the semester the CAI organises an integration week for international students (for the fall 2012 semester it is from the 27th to the 31st of August). During this week they meet their Laval buddies, other international students and get to know Laval University and the beautiful Quebec City.
