How can I go around the province of Québec’s?

• Allo-Stop and Amigo Express
These are 2 types of car sharing system, where one pays to be a year member (around 15$) and then book rides through internet with registered drivers going to the destination you want to. Then you have to pay every time your ride, often around 10$ or 15$ depending on the destination. In the province of Quebec, it’s the most economical way to travel.

Orléans Express
This is a bus system that covers all the province. For instance there are departures every hour to Montreal.

• Car rental
At Desjardins Pavillion, there is a Discount Car desk, next to the PUB.

• Train
Unlike Europe, the train is not as well developed in North America. Prices are quite expensive and there are not many destinations. However, the train ride to Montreal is quite nice. Visit ViaRail.

I want to travel outside of Canada. What are the requirements?

If you leave Canada temporarily during your studies, we strongly advise you to have a valid CAQ and study permit with you upon your return. If you are exempt from having these two documents, bring a copy of your invitation letter from Université Laval. If you are a citizen of a country for which a Canadian visa is required to enter Canada, it is your responsibility to ensure it is valid upon your return. You can either apply in Canada before your trip or during your stay outside the country.

If you stay for a short period in the United States, Greenland, or Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, and have a valid study permit, you will probably not need a valid Canadian visa to return to Canada. For more information, see the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

If you plan to visit the United States during your studies in Québec, make sure you have all of the documents needed to enter the US with you. To find out which documents are required, contact the United States Consulate General in Québec City or check its website.

You can also consult the online bulletin board—Babillard de l’Université Laval—the appart CADEUL website, and the Service des résidences website.
